“I like to listen. I have learned a great deal from listening carefully. Most people never listen.” Ernest Hemingway

My Three Favorite Podcasts of the Moment

They say that listening is an art and mastering it is a gift – to one’s self and to those speaking. I’m not sure when I became aware of my listing habits. But one day, my darling niece, Ana, said to me, “Auntie Kate – it’s always about you!” Her words lingered with me for days. I began observing how I listened and how I responded. Over time I learned to concentrate on their words and not my response. I heard Ana’s words that day, and today my listening habits have improved. And not just in conversations. My concentration has improved. I am now an avid Podcast fan and on my way to Audio Books!

Pivot…An eccelerated conversation on what’s up today

Pivot:   https://podcasts.voxmedia.com/show/pivot

Journalist Kara Swisher and NYU Professor Scott Galloway host this never-dull and always informative podcast. Big stories are the fuel that motivates these two, who, by the way, do not always agree on a topic, which “fuels” the conversation to captivating heights. Kara can be a touch overbearing, seemingly always wanting the last word. Scott knows exactly what to expect, and so the banter begins with two very well-informed hosts. They make bold predictions and pick winners and losers. An hour with these two will make you feel like you’re getting the “inside story” about what’s happening outside!

On Being…Thought provoking & meditative

On Being:   https://onbeing.org/series/podcast/

I’m not the only fan who loves Krista Tippett and On Being. Named best podcast by The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Guardian, plus over 400 million downloads. Each On Being conversation is an invitation into what can replenish and orient us in this fast-moving world: biomimicry (look it up – I had to) and the science of awe, spiritual contrarianism, and the social creativity that surrounds our day-to-day. It’s a look at the world ahead viewed through dignity, wisdom, and joy.

The Ezra Klein Show…Always right to the core of the subject

The Ezra Klein Show:  https://www.nytimes.com/column/ezra-klein-podcast

Ezra Klein began as a blogger who became well-known for his in-depth analysis of a wide range of policy issues. Currently, at the New York Times, Ezra is in the know. If he isn’t in the know, he brings in those that are. He is always on point with what’s perplexing and current. His questions and analysis of his guest, (and his) points of view, are informative and engaging.

I’m so curious, please let me know what your favorite podcasts are. And I’ll take a listen…
